Adrian and Wanda’s First Home

Though this entry has a title of Flowers part 2 it is mostly about the first house Momma and Daddy owned.  It is hard to imagine how Momma must have felt to actually own a house with property where she could grow anything she wanted.

Once again, this entry was a collaborative effort between Terry, Reggie, and me.   Please choose “Flowers part 2” from the blog roll and enjoy.

Gosh, Andie… yes I understand a lot about Grandpa Fortenberry and Daddy, but to go from Fire-controlman during the war and then come home and start building houses… wow. What a wonderful piece to the story of Mamma and Daddy!

Very glad to see these pictures, they explain a lot. I think I must have imprinted on Mom’s tropical prints when I was born because I still love them. And of course, Mimosa is my favorite tree. I wonder if Momma had to fight to keep the tree next to the drive way? Logically, it should have come down. The size of their second house, even without the den, must have been large compared to the standards of the day. Did Mom and Dad’s room really have it’s own door to the outside?
